Nightingale Singing Posted April 27, 2014

Spring has definitely arrived as last night I heard a Nightingale singing here at Hidden Meadows. He has arrived after a three day journey from the Sahara region and is now singing his wonderful, varied song ready to attract his mate who should be arriving in the next few days.

The male Nightingale will only sing for about two months and then all will be quiet again until next spring when hopefully he will return. Nightingales are quite rare in this region (only a dozen pairs noted in the Waveney Valley area) so a local farmer, who does an amazing job in creating habitat and food strips on his farm in the neighboring village is coming over to record the Nightingales song and note his location so that a better picture can be obtained as to how well these amazing little birds are doing.
