We have received from the woodland trust, over 640 metres of native hedging and just over 100 native trees (these include oak, maple, wild cherry and hawthorn). The plants are due to arrive mid February all ready for us to plant straight away.
This will not only increase the amount of hedging we already have, but it will also fill gaps in existing hedges and join them up creating wildlife corridors which are so important to the local fauna.
The trees will be used to create new, small copses of woods and will also to be planted in amongst the hedgerows.
All of this will be a lot of hard work but very worthwhile!
